HCT Roof Scoop
HCT Roof Scoop
Fill in that sunroof hole with a rally-inspired HCT roof scoop! This scoop has a functional air intake that flows into the interior of the body. I used it to actively force inducted air directly into the ESC fan shroud to further cool the ESC under load.
Note: This part in particular may need some sanding and putty work to blend with the body for the best seamless results. It is printed in high quality BL PETG-HF filament in white, but does not natively match the unpainted white body of the Honda City Turbo. An entire body spray will be required for best results, as shown in my Honda City Turbo Senna Edition video. Gluing the part with E6000 glue is my preferred choice for bonding the roof scoop to the body. Again, this one part will take some advanced work to fully finish and make clean without visible seems. However, this is not an issue if you mostly want the scoop for looks and forced air induction into the body interior (to the ESC).
Additional Note: I had originally planned for this one part to use ABS-GF filament, but due to the toxicity of continual printing and the particle danger when printing and if the end-user wants to sand these pieces, I decided to NOT go with ABS-GF and instead go with BL PETG-HF, like all of these other parts. Like any and all printed parts, be mindful of ambient heat factors so as to not warp these parts. It’s especially dangerous inside parked cars with direct sunlight.
Parts:
- Roof Scoop Upper Half
- Roof Scoop Lower Half
This part is also included in the following kits:
Tips: Some parts may still have some support tree remnants. Using needle nose pliers can pluck those stray strands off the main part. You can also sand down the parts to make them smooth, but be aware that it may lighten or dull the sanded area as compared to the rest of the part if you don't plan on painting them (I didn't paint any of the black parts and kept them bare). If a bolt needs to get through a stubborn hole, a hole reamer or even a simple hex driver may be all that's needed to make the hole larger for the bolt. Some of the large flat surfaces with speckled/rough texture may have residual hot bed adhesion glue residue still on them. If you want to remove that slightly sticky surface, simply clean it with warm water and a micro dot of dish soap (and a soft green Brillo pad can be used to help get the residue off faster).
