HCT Clear Headlight & Foglight Set
HCT Clear Headlight & Foglight Set
When I built my Honda City Turbo, I wasn’t a huge fan of the smoked headlights, so I built my own using transparent filament. And since the car didn’t come with foglights, I decided to build my own foglights as well. You’ll get two headlights with two 5mm LEDs (you can choose either cool or warm white). You’ll also get two fog lights (you can choose either cool or warm white for these a well). That’s 4 light pieces in total and 4 LEDs in total. Lights are simply glued into place (note the tabs on the headlights for positioning). I like using E6000 glue for this type of application. Be sure to drill out center holes in the buckets of the body's headlight area so that your LED wiring can go through it. Do that before gluing anything!
Note: For reference, in my Honda City Turbo Senna Edition video, I used cool white LEDs in both the headlights and foglights. I also painted the foglights with transparent yellow paint for a race look.
Tip: For an even cleaner, more realistic look, as shown in my Honda City Turbo Senna Edition video, you can apply a heavy coat of thick gloss paint or even epoxy resin (UV resin is a favorite of mine) on the top surface of these lights (both headlights and foglights). It adds nice specular highlights for the glassy/glossy look. Be sure to do this before mounting the parts into the body. After the gloss paint/epoxy has cured and then installed in the body with glue, you can also back the rear of these parts with black paint (can simply be brushed on) to conceal the LED light so they only shine forward. Be sure to wait for the glue to cure before painting the backs of these parts.

Tips: Some parts may still have some support tree remnants. Using needle nose pliers can pluck those stray strands off the main part. You can also sand down the parts to make them smooth, but be aware that it may lighten or dull the sanded area as compared to the rest of the part if you don't plan on painting them (I didn't paint any of the black parts and kept them bare). If a bolt needs to get through a stubborn hole, a hole reamer or even a simple hex driver may be all that's needed to make the hole larger for the bolt. Some of the large flat surfaces with speckled/rough texture may have residual hot bed adhesion glue residue still on them. If you want to remove that slightly sticky surface, simply clean it with warm water and a micro dot of dish soap (and a soft green Brillo pad can be used to help get the residue off faster).
Tech note: Each white LED is 3 volts, 20mA, Anode (+) = longer stem, Cathode (-) = shorter stem.
